Office Culture: Summer of Superheroes Spectacular Awards

Initially when I began this award series, the Marvel Cinematic Universe had just introduced the original Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor. To also add a female heroine into the mix I added X-Men’s The Phoenix. Each of awards represents qualities similar to their Marvel counterparts attributes.

With the success of the previous year, the awards continued on with more support, participants, and positivity.

By 2015 I was receiving requests to add more female heroes to the roster, so that year I added Black Widow. That award represented the office heroes that worked in the shadows to get things done.

The 2016 Superhero Awards continued on in its tradition to showcase talented and driven people doing good work.

By 2015 this award program had become a big deal within the organization. For a group of 120 employees, nearly half were attending this optional award ceremony. This creation was just to boost morale and another opportunity to give praise and thanks to fellow colleagues. The MCU was also growing, so it was time to grow.

By 2018 we now had 7 hero awards: Thor, Phoenix, Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain America, Hulk and Black Widow. Black Panther was the stand out character for the MCU that year, and it was made to acknowledge a person that is a bridge-builder, not someone that builds barriers, a collaborator.

At this point, there are so many heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these awards aren’t keeping up with the growth. For this year I added two: Ant Man and the Wasp. Dubbed the dynamic duo awards: two people that are known to make something better by working together.
